Gathering donations for families in need, my friend took it upon herself to put this fund together. In just under 2 weeks, she has over 300 Facebook “likes” including $2,000 in monetary donations. She is accepting gift cards and cash donations (www.gofundme.com/SandyReliefHBQueens or via paypal or mail) and using the money to purchase gift cards and other necessities that the families request.
Please help spread the word and head over to facebook for more information. Every dollar counts, and each roll of tissue paper is appreciated.
For those of you who don’t know her, she’s an amazing person with such a huge heart! She is a 29 year old mother to two absolutely beautiful children, a 3 year old son and 6 month old daughter. Her passion comes from her close connection with the community. She was a teacher for the public school system for just over 3 years and taught in Howard Beach, where she met so many incredible families and taught unbelievable kids, many of whom she stays in touch with on facebook. I can attest to the fact that she is a real person, just like each of us. The work she is doing is real - 100% genuine.

Your participation in the Pink & Black Tie Gala will help to ensure that the American Cancer Society can continue to save lives. The American Cancer Society is the only charitable organization to fight cancer on all fronts. The Society invests donations in programs to help people stay well, get well, find cures and fight back. It continues to be the largest non-government source of cancer funding with outstanding results. Virtually every major cancer breakthrough in the past 60 years can be traced to the Society, and 45 researchers funded early in their careers have gone on to win the Nobel Prize.
Gala proceeds fund direct support services to Brooklyn cancer patients and their families as well as the American Cancer Society’s national life-saving research. The Brooklyn Office of the American Cancer Society will meet the complex and challenging needs of more than 4,000 families in the borough facing cancer this year.
