Chris Brown taken into custody by US Marshals
#TaniaOnTheScene - Chris Brown has been taken into custody by U.S. marshals and will be transported to Washington, D.C., for an upcoming misdemeanor assault trial, an official said Thursday.
Brown, 24, was turned over to marshals Wednesday at a Los Angeles jail, marshals’ spokeswoman Laura Vega said. She declined to say when the Grammy winner would be sent to Washington.
The singer and his bodyguard are accused of hitting a man outside a Washington hotel in October.
Brown remains under court supervision in Los Angeles for a felony assault case filed after his 2009 attack on then-girlfriend Rihanna.
He has been held without bail in the city since mid-March, when he was discharged from court-ordered rehab for violating the rules of the facility.
He could not be moved to Washington until federal prosecutors — who handle all serious criminal cases in the nation’s capital — obtained a court order there.
Judge Joe Brown Released from Memphis Jail
#TaniaOnTheScene - Well-known TV court judge and former Shelby County Criminal Court Judge Joe Brown has been released on his own recognizance from the Criminal Justice Center at 201 Poplar.
This comes after a request for bail was denied Monday evening.
Officials told WREG-TV Brown showed up to Juvenile Court Monday and agreed to represent someone pro bono in a child support case.
Juvenile Court Magistrate Harold Horne denied Brown’s request for the case to be dismissed.
Brown then reportedly lost control and became verbally abusive.
One person said there was a near riot in the courtroom.
Horne warned Brown to calm down, but he did not.
Brown was given 24 hours in jail for contempt of court, but that increased to five days when he continued to yell as he was being removed from the courtroom.
Knicks point guard Raymond Felton arrested, charged with felony weapons possession
#TaniaOnTheScene - The 29-year-old was charged with two counts of felony possession for his ownership of an unregistered, armor-piercing firearm that he allegedly waved around aggressively during a fight with his wife, but never pointed at Ariane Raymondo-Felton, who filed for divorce and was fearful of the weapon being in their home. Felton was released on $25,000 bond early Tuesday evening.
Chris Brown Checks Into Rehab
#TaniaOnTheScene - Who would think that Rihanna’s song REHAB wouldn’t be so closely related to her ex-boo, but Chris Brown has decided to check himself into a rehab facility.
The singer was arrested over the weekend after getting into yet another fight. Brown decided that perhaps rehab will help his behavior. He’s still on probation from his 2009 assault incident with ex-girlfriend Rihanna. And since his probation doesn’t end until Aug. 25, 2014, any arrest could be considered a violation, and result in jail time.
Chris Brown Could Face Prison Following Alleged Hit-And-Run
#TaniaOnTheScene - Singer Chris Brown looks as though he might walk away with more than just a bump on his car after crashing his Range Rover into another vehicle last week, as TMZ have reported that not only did Brown fail to hand over his license number to the woman he crashed into, but he also gave her false insurance information and got all up in her grill when she asked for his details.
When Chris rammed his vehicle last Monday (May 21), it looked as though it was over before anything could begin, with Chris appearing to follow protocol and do the right thing after rear-ending someones Mercedes. But it appears as though Chris is still struggling with the whole right and wrong concept after TMZ revealed this Monday (May 27) that not only did Chris fail to give over his information, but also got riled up and started verbally attacking the woman he just ran into. Seriously, what is this guy’s problem with women?
This could result in a lengthy stay in prison if it turns out to be true, as Chris is still under probation following his beating of Rihanna. LAPD are now trying to have a one-on-one with the R&B singer about the incident, and if the claims are true then this would mean that Chris broke rule number one on his probation order; don’t break any laws, which should send him swiftl to jail.
Lauryn Hill Gets Jail Time
#TaniaOnTheScene - Being sent “up the river” traditionally refers to Sing Sing Prison in Ossining, New York about 30 miles up the Hudson from New York City. Grammy winning Singer Lauryn Hill was sentenced in Newark. She could still appeal her sentence, but my guess is she won’t even if she thinks it’s unfair. If the singer does go to jail, it will be brief and though no facility was specified, it will likely be in a reduced security facility.
Hill is charged with failure to pay federal taxes on 1.8 million dollars earned between 2005-2007.
Ms. Hill didn’t get probation alone as she had requested, but she drew only 3 months of incarceration. That is quite a good deal compared to the 24 to 36 months she faced. See The tax education of Lauryn Hill: Prison. Her lawyer Nathan Hochman did a superb job of keeping her sentence down, stressing how she had stepped up, paid all her taxes, and more. In fact, a prior delay in sentencing may have been due to the fact that paying first is clearly better.
#TaniaOnTheScene - Reese Witherspoon has apologized after being arrested for disorderly conduct, admitting she is ‘deeply embarrassed’ by the way she behaved.
The Oscar-winning actress released a statement on Sunday apologizing for her behavior to police, which began when her husband, Hollywood agent Jim Toth, was arrested in the early hours of Friday morning for driving under the influence of alcohol.
After making an appearance at the New York premiere of her new movie Mud on Sunday night, Reese, 37, released a statement explaining: ‘I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said.
