Grammy predictions: Macklemore favored for new artist
#TaniaOnTheScene - Bet on Macklemore & Ryan Lewis to win Grammy’s best new artist trophy this year. Just don’t bet a lot.
The newcomer competition, historically fraught with controversy, left-field picks and puzzling shutouts, may be the most difficult contest to call.
Transgressions have been endless. The prize went to such short-lived sensations as Starland Vocal Band and Christopher Cross. Lip-sync duo Milli Vanilli’s award was revoked. Elvis Costello lost to A Taste of Honey. Among scores of legends never even nominated as bright start-ups were Madonna, U2, Prince, Garth Brooks, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac and Bruce Springsteen.
This year, Macklemore dukes it out with country singer Kacey Musgraves, hip-hop artist Kendrick Lamar, British crooner Ed Sheeran and London singer/producer James Blake.

Michael Jackson’s Son to Testify About Father’s Death
#TaniaOnTheScene - Four years after Michael Jackson died, his oldest son is ready to tell a jury about the last days of his life.
Prince Jackson, now 16, was 12 when he followed an ambulance carrying his father to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center on the afternoon of June 25, 2009.
On Monday, in the Jackson family’s wrongful death lawsuit, Jackson lawyers informed AEG Live attorneys that Prince will be the next witness after a doctor who is an expert in medical conflicts of interest completes his testimony Tuesday.
That would likely put Prince on the stand Wednesday, a day after the fourth anniversary of his father’s death.
Prince, Paris and Blanket Jackson and their grandmother Katherine Jackson are suing AEG Live, accusing their father’s last concert promoter of negligently hiring, retaining or supervising Dr. Conrad Murray, who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in Jackson’s death.
Jackson lawyers argue that the promoter and producer of the “This Is It” shows pressured Murray to get Jackson to rehearsals but failed to get Jackson help despite numerous red flags that he was in trouble.
Murray told police he used the surgical anesthetic propofol nearly every night for two months to treat Jackson’s insomnia. The coroner ruled that an overdose of propofol killed him.
AEG Live lawyers argue that Jackson chose and supervised Murray and that their executives had no way of knowing the doctor was using the dangerous treatment.
An Update on Paris Jackson
#TaniaOnTheScene - Just released is audio of a dispatch call that describes Paris Jackson’s injuries.
Paramedics were dispatched to Paris Jackson’s home on a report that the 15-year-old had taken 20 Motrin pills and cut herself with a kitchen knife, audio of an emergency dispatch released Tuesday shows.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department released audio of a call describing the need for paramedics between one of its dispatchers and a sheriff’s department dispatcher who was relaying information from the home.
Paris is the only daughter of pop superstar Michael Jackson and was hospitalized after the June 5 incident.
The teen was described as conscious and breathing during the call, but no other details about her condition or what led to the injuries were given on the call, which lasted approximately a minute.
Kate and Her Baby Bump
#TaniaOnTheScene - Kate single-handedly hosted a hig-profile royal tradition yesterday - and her baby bump was a prominent part of the team.
We got to see Kate looking really pregnant for the first time yesterday, when she did a meet and greet with boy scouts at Windsor Castle, standing in for the Queen who was celebrating her actual 87th birthday privately (her official birthday, in June, is the big ceremonial affair marked by the pomp-heavy ceremony known as the Trooping of The Colour).
